James Kim's Path

Below are images generated using Google Earth. They include terrain data which gives the viewer a feel for the area's elevation changes.

The data originates from the GPS coordinates provided by the rescue teams and information compiled from various media outlets.

The marked locations include the following:

-the car's location
-where Jim left the road
-where the pants were found
-where the other atricles of clothing were found
-where Jim's remains were found
-the location of the Black Bar Lodge

Overview of the path James Kim took.
Update: A lot of people seem to think the Rogue River is the main road. The road they are travelling on is not in view. I just added another image that is an overview of the location, including the Pacific Ocean to the West and the 5 freeway to the east. It also includes the last cell tower they pinged.

Update: I added the path they took in the car from Count Road 23. The path of the car is in blue. The wrong turn was made at Bear Camp Road (a vandal broke the lock on the gate that would have prevented vehicles from using it). The Kim's intended path was County Road 23, indicated by the yellow line at the bottom.

Update 12/9/06: The media is now reporting that the location of the car that was provided by the authorities is incorrect. They claim that the car was not found 1 mile from the lodge, but 6.37 miles further down the road. The first photo depicts the location where the car was found and the second indicates the correct location of the car with the updated path in orange.

This image is oriented to show the match with the picture taken of the car's final location
